Focus media, focus

I guess I hope and pray for too much where the media is concerned. If you ask everyone what they want from the media outlets they follow, they will all say that they want the truth.

They want the truth, and they don't want the truth to be camouflaged with lies, slander, or putting their network ratings agenda ahead of what Americans really want to read and hear.

Of course the people reporting the news have many left-leaning views, along with many that have right-leaning views. That's OK, and as a matter of fact most people welcome all views in the reporting of news. But as Jack Webb used to say, "just the facts Maam".

What Americans don't want is their news to be tarnished with lies, and bias. If news reporters would concentrate on reporting the news that's really important to John and Jane Doe there news reporting would have so much more meaning for all Americans.

Americans want to make up their own mind about news. They don't need, and don't want to have so much untrue junk that accompanies the news. A news network may think that by reporting their own bias, along with lies that the American people will be drawn closer to listening and believing them.

This type of network couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, initially people will be entertained by listening and watching this type of news outlet. But eventually people will just laugh at these networks, and stop tuning them in.

I'm not going to waste your time by giving you examples. You already know who these networks are. You already know where you can get the news reported truthfully. These networks that report the news truthfully will earn your allegiance and following.

This morning I turned on the TV, and was greeted with the news that a tragic shooting occured in Aurora, Colorado at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie. Fourteen were killed and fifty injured, and it was quickly discovered the shooter's name was Jim Holmes.

Minutes, just minutes after the shooting a major network reported that there was a Jim Holmes from Aurora was "talking about" joining the Tea Party last year. Now the network went on to report that "we don't know if this is the same Jim Holmes that did the shooting, but it certainly bears mentioning". I'd like to know the relevance of that statement that has yet to be proven correct.

Now, without revealing the name of this network, I will tell you this is a network that leans strongly to the left, and is currently seeking negative news about conservative policies and views, without reporting the news truthfully. Yes, you know who it is.

Now, you can bet this network will "run" with the story that Jim Holmes may be a Tea Party member more than they will report on the victims of this tragedy.  Americans will have to make their own decisions f they want to follow this possible "made-up" news story.

Along with millions of other Americans I really don't care about Governor Romney's "Bain adventures", nor do I care about Obama's grades in college. I don't care about Romney's tax returns that seem to plague the left-leaning networks. Nor do I care about Obama's association with Pastor Wright.  What, in God's name do those issues have to do with what's dragging our economy down?  What do these issues have to do with the economy and much needed jobs?

Do you really care about Governor Romney's wife's horse doing dressage for her medical therapy?  Do you really care what Michelle Obama wants you to eat for breakfast?  It seems the networks care, just on the hope it may boost their ratings.

Americans, we have much, much bigger issues at hand. John and Jane Doe are sitting at their kitchen table mired deeply in their budget trying to figure how to make their next house payment, send the kids to college, and are their jobs going to be there ten years from now?

I guarantee you most Americans are not paying too much attention to the negative gossip going around the campaigns now. I am worried about the future of our country for my children and grandchildren. Isn't that more important to you than the juicy gossip the networks are using to increase their ratings?

Please, please media report the news truthfully. We need you to do that. And if you do that truthfully we'll follow you, tune you in, and believe you.

If you put your ratings above reporting the news truthfully I know I don't have to tell you what eventually will happen.  Just ask......never mind you know who I mean.

And that's Politics with Pete for today.......please pray for the victims from the tragedy in Aurora
