Thanks to Obie's latest decisions I have so much ammunition for my next few blogs; jobs council, approval ratings, 7.8% unemployment, and so many of his broken promises and lies. Thanks Obie; I'll get to you starting tomorrow.
Today, I'd like to address something I promised I would never do. I'm going to respond to a critic who, in my opinion, has an eight-pound chip on his shoulder. Now this critic has called me a moron, a white racist, and many other names unfit to print in this forum. Hey Mr. Critic, what does that say about you? Lighten up, take a deep breath and learn to laugh a little.
I have a huge disagreement with this individual, as they use the illness of a young family member to push his agenda on his hatred for guns. Before I go any further, let me write that I will pray for a healthy and speedy recovery for his young precious family member, as I believe children are the most import natural resource in our world.
But to act like Obie and others who use children to push their agenda makes me feel a little uncomfortable. MSNBC is by far the biggest offender of this gun violence agenda pushing. They went so far as to use their own editing when a father in Sandy Hook was speaking about his slain son. To me MSNBC is crossing the line.
Please indulge me in two short stories. Years ago my father and 3-year old brother were visiting an apple farmer. My father told my brother to stay in the car, as Dad crossed the road to talk to the farmer. Dad's car and my brother were in full view. Suddenly a loud thunder clap occured accompanied with a bright lightening flash. My frightened brother panicked and dashed from the car. Crossing the road, and in full view of my father, he was struck down and killed by an oncoming driver.
Dad passed away at 88; Mom at 87. They told me a day never passed that they didn't think of their slain son. But they never used my brother's death as a platform to abolish cars. People like my critic should just be forthcoming and admit their hatred of guns. Instead they use a family illness to push their agenda. Much like Obie standing in front of children to push his agenda against our Second Amendment rights. Here's a question...is this hatred of guns political because I notice only Democrats want to abolish all guns?
I have three lovely, beautiful daughters. One was born with Cerebral Palsy. After her birth the delivery doctor came to the waiting room and said, "sorry, we couldn't get enough oxygen to her brain....there may be brain damage". It was discovered later the lack of oxygen to her brain caused damage to the motor sensory controlling area in her brain.
She never walked until she was four years old. At five years of age we had her tested at the Cleveland Clinic. A well known child psychologist informed us, "based on her testing; she's going to be a "slow" individual...don't pick the college of your choice...she may make it through high school, but don't look for anything beyond that".
I'm busting with pride because someone forgot to tell my daughter she was going to have problems. Today, yes she walks with a very awkward gate, but she holds two Masters Degrees. along with a national Master's Degree in her field. I am so proud of her accomplishments. She rides horses, swims, has some papers published, and is a great cook and gardener.
My point in all this? When a horrible monster uses a car, gun, knife, etc., to commit a horrible crime please remember it's the person, not the implement that is causing the crime. It is disgusting when adults insert tragedies of our young precious children to advance their own personal agenda. Every family has stories of illness and even death, but to stand on the graves of victims is inexcusable.
Dad didn't sue anyone as it was a freak of nature that caused my brother to run in front of that car. Cars should not be taken off the road. I didn't sue the doctor who delivered my daughter, and doctors should not be abolished. Let's worry and focus on the criminals who commit crimes, not the inanimate pieces of metal called guns. Our gun violence problems will not be solved with a blanket law to take away Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens. Don't let the criminals laugh at us. You know criminals won't obey any gun laws.
Hey, how come Obie won't talk about Chicago?
Before I leave I want to wish the young family member of my critic a Godspeed and healthy recovery. I hope he grows up strong, and at twenty-one years of age becomes a conservative Republican, joins the NRA, gets a concealed carry weapon, and learns how to protect him self and his family. And along the way help grampa get the chip off his shoulder. Life is too short.
Now that that's done, watch out Obie; tomorrow is all about you and your failed policies.

Love my guns
Like to write about how I came to have such a strong regard for the Second Amendment, and how I came to respect it so strongly.
While serving in the U.S. Air Force I was proud and privileged to be awarded the highest security clearance an enlisted man could be awarded. I was a cryptographer. Even though I served in peace time; 1954-1958, I was required to strap on a .45 semi-automatic military pistol while on duty, because I was stationed in a foreign country.
While I was proud to serve in the military I personally disliked wearing that .45 for hours at a time. And if that wasn't bad enough I had to qualify with the .45 twice a year on the firing range. Even with protective ear guards my ears rang for weeks.
Upon returning home from the Air Force my father offered me his shotgun as he was "retiring" from hunting. I thanked Dad, but declined telling him, "I don't like guns Dad, and I certainly won't shoot at a deer, rabbit, or any other animal". Dad gave his shotgun to my brother-in-law.
I lived in California for thirty-five years, moved back here, met and married my wife. We've been married for fourteen years. Her late husband was an avid hunter and gun collector. Still harboring a big fear and dislike of guns I urged her to give all of her late husband's guns to her son.
Three years ago a medical situation left me physically vulnerable. I was concerned for the safety of my wife and I. In a discussion with our city's chief of police he suggested my wife and I enroll in a concealed carry weapons course and take the state test. He also urged that we each buy a weapon for protection. By the way, in two more instances Sheriffs of two counties that I am aware of have found it necessary to lay off deputies. In doing so they urged county citizens to arming themselves for protection.
My wife and I have children and grandchildren spread all over the U.S., and we travel by car a lot. We visited another state, took the concealed carry state exam, and with state reciprocity, are licensed to carry our guns in all states except three; New York, Illinois, and California. Ironic isn't it that these three states won't allow citizens to carry guns, but have the highest gun crimes in the country? Hey should we abolish cars in states that have the highest auto fatalities?
I have graduated to target shooting, bullet reloading, and have found a new hobby that I enjoy very much; joined a gun club and even organized a pistol league. Proud to write that I have overcome my fear of guns, but have a new found respect for guns. I have met some very responsible citizens, most of whom are NRA members and are very law abiding citizens. I have yet to meet an NRA member who owns a gun, and is a proud Democrat or an Obie supporter. I find that strange.
I watched part of the gun violence hearings today in Congress. Did you see where the media got a lot of egg on their face? It was eye-opening to watch. The media edited a portion of a parent of one of the slain children in Sandy Hook. It was appalling to watch so many figuratively stand on the graves of fallen victims to advance their own agendas. It certainly is not a way to honor the slain victims.
All of us NRA proud gun carrying members can't be wrong. NRA membership, along with guns and ammunition sales are at an all time high. I think Obie's getting the message that we are not giving up our guns. You remember what our former NRA president Charlton Heston said about prying our guns from our cold dead hands.
OK, I've give my critics enough ammunition for their lies and personal attacks. Let's take a break from guns for a while.

Is a gun political?
With all the political accusations, conflicts, and diatribe going around about guns today, one has to wonder if the gun by itself is Republican, Democrat, Independent, Christian, etc.
I even tried to find some humor in this delicate and often debated topic. As I was leaving the house today I holstered my .357 snub-nose, and headed for the door. As I passed my wife I said, "my Republican buddy and I are going out for errands". She responded, "what Republican buddy"? I just replied, "According to the Dems all guns are not just pieces of metal....they're Republican". She responded by shoving me out the door, and calling me crazy.
Seriously though, I know I'm not the only one that has noticed if you're a progressive liberal Democrat you want all guns taken off the street, and attack the Second Amendment every chance you can. Just yesterday the CBS morning host urged Americans to "just give up on the Constitution". Of course he's a liberal progressive. What else can you expect?
It seems the liberal progressives want to make headlines about gun violence. Of course all Americans want all violence and wrongful deaths of any kind stopped, but taking away Second Amendment rights of Americans is definitely not the answer.
Today, on TV a father of a slain Sandy Hook six-year old said it best, "It doesn't matter how man gun laws you enforce the criminals are still going to commit crimes. Look at Chicago. They have the strongest gun laws in the nation, have the highest gun crime in the country, but only law abiding citizens obey the Chicago gun laws. Criminals just laugh at the gun laws...we need to look at the person not the gun".
This father said he didn't want any gun law named after his slain son, but rather find out why criminals break laws and use guns. He went on to talk about parenting using his own loving parents as examples of the responsible and loving parenting skills they used when he was growing up.
Someone please tell Senator Feinstein the difference between rifles and assault weapons. She is just clueless. However, Senator Feinstein did acknowledge that she used to carry a gun when she walked the streets at night when she was alone. Is this another Democrat double standard?
Last year 323 deaths were by guns, but only 38 of them were by assault weapons. Most deaths were crimes committed by handguns. Last year 496 deaths were caused by hammers. Last year 650 deaths were caused by knives. Last year 12,000 deaths were caused by drunk drivers.
Last year 195,000 deaths were caused by medical malpractice. This means you're more likely get killed by Obamacare than by a gun.
Hey, here's suggestion: how about stronger punishment for crimes committed by guns. Judges should dole out harsh punishment to anyone convicted of a gun related crime. We know criminals don't care about any gun laws. The truth is the criminals are laughing at us. As far as they are concerned they do hope we have stronger gun laws. That way they know they'll be the only ones carrying guns as they walk the streets of Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, which happen to be the highest gun crime cities in the country, and also happen NOT to allow citizens the right to protect themselves with a gun. Ah, another Democrat double standard. Did I mention these are strong Democrat cities.
Barack and his team want to take away our right to bear arms and protect ourselves, repeal the Second Amendment, and take ALL guns off the streets.
Can you imagine the reverse? If roles were reversed and it was the Republicans who wanted guns off the streets, I can guarantee the Democrat double-standard liberal progressives would be screaming the Republicans are attacking our constitutional rights.
I will always stand by my right to protect myself. I'm a proud NRA member, an Air Force veteran, and to quote Charlton Heston, (Barack) only way you'll get my gun from me is to pry it from my dead hands".

Dontchya just love the U.S.A.?
Just got back from the gym, and for a 77-year old, I had a great workout. I listened to my "old fashioned" music from my iPhone to drown out the rap swearing that was vibrating loudly through the gym. As I said, great workout, and that put me in a great quiet pensive mood to write this blog showing my love for this country.
Maybe part of my good mood is Duke beat Maryland by 20 points yesterday. You're all probably tired of my bragging that I have a grandson in medical school at Duke. Sorry, but that's a grandfather's prerogative.
So, I poured some coffee, and headed for my computer and here I am typing away; not knowing what my next words are going to be or how this blog will end.
However, let me start by patting myself on the back for predicting the responses to yesterday's blog of "2016-told ya so". I want to sincerely and humbly thank those those responded with the kind supportive words. These kind of responses just keep me going. Thanks again.
I guess I should even thank my the critics of my latest "2016..." blog. They actually made me a prophet. My profound liberal progressive critics made my predictions come true. They rang true to form so profoundly that I thought their responses came straight from MSNBC..
Of course I can't repeat the phrases they wrote. If I did I'm sure the News-Herald would take away my blog writings in the future. As a writer, speaker, facilitator, and professional sales trainer over the years, I have found that when people who disagree with you respond with lies and name calling it just truly reflects who they are. There's an old truism that people who respond with name calling and swearing are just masquerading any semblance of a decent and intelligent vocabulary.
None of my critics wanted to respond about Barack sending billions in aid to Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, along with F-16 jet fighter planes and hundreds of Abrams war tanks. Instead they once again resorted to name calling, lies, and swearing. As I've written many times, I will debate and publish any protesting views, but will not demean myself by distinguishing any lies, swearing, or name calling in my blog responses.
I will sign off this blog with my undying love, respect, and honor for this country, and the great majority of the great American citizens. I believe we will find our way back from the sad state of affairs Barack has placed us in, and his intentions for the next four years.
We started in the Revolutionary War, breaking from the tyranny of the United Kingdom. There have been world dictators in the past that have tried unsuccessfully to bring down their great countries of freedom. Stalin, Hitler, Hirohito, and many others who even tried to bring their distorted tyrannical rule to the United States, and of course miserably failed.
Their philosophy was to grow and expand the government so strongly that they will not only govern, but RULE the masses. They wanted to make the masses totally dependent on the ruling class. These dictators started small. They took from the wealthy, even the investors who wanted to create jobs for the masses. Their next step was to expand government jobs and unions.
The next step was to make sure the media was on their side to broadcast their philosophies to the masses. With the media supporting them it was easy to engage in cover-ups to keep the truth from the people. It also helped the dictators' agendas by appointing some of their followers to high ranking government positions. Of course it started out great because the masses were getting a free way of life from their beloved dictator without even working. Many even voted to keep them in power. Hmmm, sound familiar?
And let's not forget a valuable tool the dictators used; offering free avenues to health care. Wow, the masses thought; this is great. Let's bow down and show our love for our beloved leader. He will surely look after us as long as he stays in power. Just listen and read what the media is telling us.
Do you know what the final decree from the dictators to the masses? Yes, you probably already guessed it. Take away the arms from the citizens. Again, sound familiar?
And currently there are uprisings from the extremists in the middle east that take financial aid and military arms from the U.S.A., as they spew their hatred for our great country. They want to overthrow us, even to the point of slaying Americans as they impose their Sharia Law on western civilization.
Does any of the above in this blog make you thing of what is going on today in our own country with Barack in charge? I'm not going to debate where Barack was born. My concern is where he lives now. His background emanates from a city ruled by crime and criminals. That is his background. You almost understand his "ruling" philosophy. Does he know any better?
But, you know, I believe in this great country. We're going to take Barack's dictatorship ruling only so much. Honest journalism is already reporting the true facts of good Americans are beginning to push back. The true facts of Obamacare are starting to surface and reflect how it will harm the economic growth of this country.
Barack took a bath in Teflon and sent Biden out to attempt to initiate gun control. Barack wanted nothing to do with it because he knew his control control law would never get through Congress. He's going to let Biden take the fall, as he's already starting his "Hillary for President" campaigning.
Yes Barack, you've been pushing us around for four years, but have you noticed we Americans are starting to push back. You're not afraid of impeachment are you?

"2016" - I told ya
Here's a scenario I'd like to throw out to those that read my blog today, especially my critics that were part of the 51% who voted for Barack back in November.
OK, so here's the scenario: You're in your safe home that is all locked up and secure. Suddenly there's an intruder pounding on your door threatening to bring harm to you and your family.
Do you call 911, and then protect your family by any means? Or do you unlock the door, welcome the intruder in, and show them where you keep your money, jewelry, guns, knives, or any other protective tools? Come on now, there are two choices here. Which one would you pick?
Let's carry this to a larger scale for the sake of discussion OK? Would you vote for someone to be President of our country, and while in office choose the second option when dealing with countries that could cause us harm as does the intruder wanting to illegally enter your home? Would you want a person in our White House that would operate this way? Really? Think about it.
Well, congratulations to the 51%. That is exactly what you did in November. In Egypt there is a self-proclaimed dictator of Egypt, Muhammod Morsi, who is also leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. This man also has close ties to Al Queda and other terrorist groups. This man has declared his hatred of Israel and the United States.
Dictator Morsi also proclaims that Jews are pigs that must to extinguished. He has proclaimed he despises the United States almost as much as he hates Israel. He has directed the schools in Egypt to teach Egyptian children that they must hate Israel and the United States.
Guess what Barack just did? He chose to opt for the "unlocking" the front door of our country.
He is immediately sending four F-16 jet fighter planes to Egypt with a promise of twelve more F-16's, along with 200 Abrams tanks. The F-16 is our most powerful jet fighter plane. The Abrams tank is a very powerful war tank.
I wonder how many of the 51% that voted for Barack were aware of this before they voted in November. Heck, I wonder how many of the 51% know that information today. Almost forgot to mention this little tid-bit. Best way to describe it is to go back to my original scenario.
That intruder you allowed in the house to harm you and your family, remember him? Well, suppose when he finished stealing from you and harming your family, you offered him $100.00 or more?
Well, that is exactly what Barack is doing. Not only is Barack supplying powerful jet fighter pilots and elite war tanks to an organization that may use these armaments to attack our biggest mid east ally Israel; he sends billions of dollars in aid to Egypt.
Does this make sense to anyone? I am urging my critics to please respond to this blog and explain the logic in all this to me. Now don't write back with all the name calling, reminding me how stupid I am. I already know that. No need for that. I'm more thick-skinned than you can imagine. Just be logical OK? Give me your logic for Barack doing this. Just the answers OK?
In the movie "2016" Barack proclaimed that we must equalize the military forces in all countries. He feels that is the way we can "spread the wealth and security of the globe". The movie even depicts how this "spreading" would enfold. The movie shows a cartoon graph of the growing military strength of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, along with other mid east countries, while a barbed-wire fence is shown squeezing all around Israel, and squashing the country.
Oh yes, did I mention that while Barack is doing all this he is downsizing our own military to the point where are own military will be it's weakest in history? Sorry, forgot to mention that.
It was shameful enough that Barack never mentioned jobs, the dismal economy, and spending cuts in his inaugural speech last week; he never spoke the words, FOREIGN POLICY. It seems he cares nothing about our relationship with our allies and our potential enemies.
I'd like to make a wager with any of my critics. I'll wager that Barack never visits Israel during his second term in office. He won't let a visit to our strongest mid east ally get in the way of his golfing, basketball, or vacations.

Where are the Horatio's?
Just finished reading a non-fiction book last night that depicted the life of a criminal. Of course I'm not going to reveal the name of the book or the names of the characters in the book. It is revealed a "true" story, so I'm not going to take any writer's privilege here.
The book was a very important story for me, as it depicted the life of the this criminal. While this does not lean too much on my usual themes of "Politics", it does give an awareness of success stories here in the land of freedom where anyone can pursue their dream. The book also depicted why our government corruption, along with the EPA, and "protection" laws that have led some educated, decent law abiding citizen to turn to a life of crime.
In my 77 years the only laws I've ever broken are the result of parking tickets, and a few speeding tickets, but I did find myself cheering for the criminal while I was reading the book as the man changed into a life of crime. The main character in the book started his post college career with the All-American dream of hard work equals success. He realized hard work, ingenuity, creativity, and ambition are the ingredients he needed to success.
The book's criminal character possessed all these attributes and initially had a healthy outlook and confidence. I don't want to overstate this person's character, but it must be noted he was not born into a life of crime. On the contrary he was born into a hard working family, his father was a successful business man.
He believed in the Horatio Alger dream; his two favorite heroes were Steven Jobs and Bill Gates. They started their business venture in a garage with nothing but great ideas. Our "criminal" was naive enough to believe he could do the same, but soon his dream began to fade.
He ran into corrupt politicians that favored his competitors by accepting bribes. He ran into government regulations that were illegally burdened on him unless he "played along".
As his dream of success through hard work completed faded he had to file bankruptcy. At the bottom of the barrel and just about ready to throw in the towel, our "criminal" was approached by a "team" that suggested a different approach. Of course at first blush he was reluctant, but soon he realized a life of crime allowed him to walk around the hoops that others were forced to jump through.
Within a few years the life of crime gave him a life of prosperity and riches. With his cash flowing in he went even deeper into his life of crime. He began to "give gifts" to government officials to "look the other way". While our character was a criminal his prosperity and riches afforded him friends in government, banking, and even into the judicial system where he had judges as very "close" friends. He owned rich lavish homes, vintage cars, and continued to expand his business tentacles to other profitable markets that were questionable.
Now, just what is my point in all this? I'm sure you get it by now. It's very simple. This man, Barack, in our White House, through his welfare/food stamp programs are squashing the hopes and dreams of hard working people who believe in the Horatio Alger strive for success. Barack is making it so easy for his welfare/food stamp base to live free off the backs of hard working people. Why should Barack's welfare base work? They know the man in the White House believes in expanding government.
It is a fact the money we spend monthly on welfare accounts for two-thirds of Barack's spending. In fact, and it is a fact, welfare surpasses military and all justice spending combined.
The context here is very simple to many people; why try the hard work route, jump through hoops only to get shot down? Why not just go on welfare, collect food stamps, and let Barack attack the makers and give us takers the good life free.
And we scratched our heads in November wondering how Barack carried 51% for his reelection. Folks, it's a fact the overwhelming majority of the 51% were people on the welfare/food stamp role. We need to stop making the life of welfare/food stamp so easy to attain, and get people back to work. Barack never spoke of jobs and our dismal economy in his inaugural speech a few days ago. His main theme was based on "helping the middle class". The only problem with that Barack is your way of "help" is to put as many as you can on welfare, creating as many people as you can dependent on government for you to control.
Someone please get the message to Barack that our great country needs to get people back to work, not to welfare. My father's words that I'll never forget were, "the true heroes in this country are people who put two sandwiches in a brown bag, go to work everyday, and take care of their family".

No more insomnia
I want to thank the House and Senate committee hearings yesterday for helping me get a great night's sleep. I DVR'd the questions and answers between Secretary Clinton and the committee, and then I played it back, and it worked. I watched it for about ten minutes and slept like a newborn. I also enjoyed the comedy relief I experienced from the hearings.
I still can't figure who was more comical, the Democrats or the Republicans. The ever comedic Democrats were hilarious, as they never asked a question. I thought this was a hearing. You know, someone asks a question, and then someone answers it. I should have figured something was amiss when one Democrat Senator stood up, and screamed, "I nominate the honorable Hillary Clinton for the office of the Presidency of the United States". As if that wasn't bad enough, another Democrat Senator said, "I second the motion". I really rolled on the floor when the Democrat chair person loudly proclaimed, "Motion carried....someone get Justice Roberts to swear in Ms. Clinton".
I thought I heard it all, but maybe my favorite was when Senator Durbin from the great homicide, gun violence, broke state of Illinois blamed the entire Benghazi fiasco on Bush. He made this strange vocal scenario that Republican President Bush and Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell stated there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I'm still laughing over that one. I tried to figure the logic, but what the heck, Durbin can't blame the Republicans for the sad state of affairs in Illinois because there aren't any in power there, so he's got to blame Republicans for something. Dickie D. you are one funny person.
But I found the Republicans were almost as bad. Instead of asking questions to get to the bottom of what really happened in Benghazi, they used the hearing as a platform to vent their woes against the Democrats. The Republicans wasted a great opportunity to have Secretary Clinton explain all the pertinent details of what really happened in Benghazi. Instead the Republicans just gave speeches.
To be truthful though, we all know Secretary Clinton was not going to tell the truth, but she has more protection supporting her than anyone could ever have. Of course we all had some important and pointed questions that we would have liked Madam Secretary to answer, but she was so insulated, the whole hearing was just another step in futility.
Of course we all know Senator Rand Paul was correct. Hillary should be fired, Ambassador Rice should be fired, and Barack should be impeached over the disgraceful massacre of four Americans in Benghazi, but we all also know that will never happen. While Hillary was failing to tell the truth and lying to the committee Barack and his gang were back at the Oval office laughing their heads off.
Not a thing we can do about it folks. Barack and his gang are going to be around for four years. I just want to thank them for the ammunition. But we have 2014 to look to.
